Creative Stations

Updated: Dec 27, 2020

A project using artistic, writing, and photography based stations that allows the girls a lot of creative leeway to choose their own activities.

Learning Outcome: Explore different forms of communication through the use of art, writing, and photography. Focus on expressing and communicating ideas through more creative and artistic mediums.

Materials:

  • Printed out Writing and Drawing Prompts

  • Computers for digital work

  • Examples of blog and picture feeds for ideas!

Project Run-Time: 1 Meeting

Station #1: Creative writing Station (Prompts)

note: for this station, we simply printed off the following prompts and left them in the designated station area. Girls can use computers or paper to write down their answers to the prompts.

Station 2: Drawing Station (Prompts)

Station 3: Digital Writing and Art

  • Make a blog!

Write about discoveries your making, places your visiting, and inspirational women you’re meeting in the form of a personal blog.

Blog examples to get the creative juices flowing:

  • Investigative Journalism:

Write a news article on a current issue revolving around women:

Do research about what issues are going on in the world today. (e.g. Female scientific discoveries, female access to education around the world, female civil rights in America or around the world, gender equality in American workplaces, animal protection laws…)

Make a plan! Make sure your article is in your own words, but write about your issue using information you found! You can also quote authors and experts on your issue if you would like.

Make sure your article is short and sweet and gets your information across clearly. Write up your article in a google doc and make sure to include 1 or 2 pictures!

  • Create a social media feed:

Following the path of modern social media bloggers and posters, create a “feed” of pictures that best describe you.

Include: A woman you look up to, place you’d like to live, your favorite hobby, a pet you’d like to have, your dream job, and places you’d love to travel. Feel free to add more as well!
